Emotional Healing Therapy UK
Frequently Asked Questions for Online Therapy
A gentle, trauma‑informed guide to the questions people often ask before starting online therapy with me.
Who do you work with?
I support adults through online therapy across the UK.
My work is trauma‑informed, mind‑body based, and grounded in emotional safety.
Do you offer online therapy only?
Yes. All sessions take place online via secure video, allowing you to settle into therapy from your own safe, familiar environment.
I no longer offer in‑person or telephone sessions.
What happens in a 60‑minute session?
Each session is 60 minutes and may include:
-
therapeutic counselling
-
mind‑body awareness
-
creative or symbolic exploration
-
MAP Method™ integration (if appropriate)
-
grounding and emotional regulation tools
We work steadily, safely, and at a pace that supports your nervous system.
What is the MAP Method™?
The MAP Method™ is a gentle, neuroscience‑supported process that helps the mind update old emotional patterns without needing to relive or retell difficult memories.
It can support:
-
anxiety
-
trauma responses
-
emotional overwhelm
-
limiting beliefs
-
belief‑based patterns
MAP is always optional and used only with your consent.
How do I know if this approach is right for me?
You don’t need to arrive with the right words - we explore things gently together. Most people find that a blend of counselling, mind‑body work, creativity and MAP offers multiple pathways into healing.
If you’re unsure, we can explore this in your first session.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person. I recommend a minimum of 12 sessions to allow trust, safety and emotional processing to develop. The way I prefer to work is in a 12‑week Mind Body Mastery programme, with the option to continue with ad‑hoc sessions afterwards if felt benefial.
Do you work with trauma?
Yes - gently and at your pace. My work is trauma‑informed and grounded in emotional safety. You will never be asked to relive or retell traumatic memories although you are free to share what you feel is beneficial to you.
What are your fees?
Fees are listed on the Practice information and fees page. All sessions are paid in advance to secure your booking.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes. I offer a free telephone or video call where we explore what you need and whether we are the right fit before the initial introductory session (which is charged as a single session)
How do I book a session?
You can contact me through the Contact page. I’ll reply personally and once we have had a telephone or video call I will offer you a mutually agreeable day and time for the introductory session or to begin the 12-week program.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I offer online sessions through Bupa (see info below
Is online therapy confidential?
Yes. I follow strict confidentiality and safeguarding guidelines. We will discuss privacy, safety and boundaries in your first session.
What if I need to cancel a session?
I have a 48‑hour cancellation policy. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged in full.
What if I’m nervous about starting therapy?
This is completely normal. Many people feel unsure at first - especially if they’ve been carrying things alone for a long time.
We go gently, at your pace, with no pressure to share anything before you’re ready.
Do I need a GP referral to use my Bupa insurance?
Most clients can access Bupa mental health support without a GP referral. Bupa will guide you through the authorisation process and let you know what’s needed for your policy.
How many therapy sessions will Bupa cover?
This varies by policy. Bupa will confirm the number of sessions approved when you request your authorisation code.
